Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, which was on a silent mode for a while, is back in action now. KFCC has been actively involved in causes like Kaveri and Mahadayi, but regarding the Kannada Film Industry, not much was done. Office bearers of KFCC had called for a Press Conference yesterday(Oct 5) to speak about some of major concerns that are trouncing the well-being of the industry. President Sa Ra Govindu spoke to media elaborately about the issues and his plans.
Here are the 3 issues which were raised by Sa Ra Govindu in yesterday's meet. They also have the solution for the issues and are hoping to implement those with the help of different sectors of the Film Industry.
Reality Shows
According to them, stars like Shivarajkumar, Sudeep, Jaggesh, Srujan participating in such shows will reduce the footfalls in the theaters during the time these shows are telecasted. So KFCC requests actors not to be a part of such shows and a few producers are also planning a protest near the Bigg Boss sets on the opening day of the much awaited reality show.
Percentage Share In Theaters
Generally theaters are operated on rental basis. This will be same for any film no matter whether film has big stars or newcomers. This policy holds good for star films which does a good collection. But newcomers will find the above system hard. If a percentage system is put in place, whatever may be the collection, both the producer and theater will get something out of it. So KFCC is planning to implement the system.
Satellite Rights
A couple of years ago, films were being made only for the money, the producer used to get from the satellite rights. Such was the demand and all channels were actively buying movies for telecasting the movies, on their channels. Gradually this came down and in the present situation, only top stars' movies are being purchased and rest of the movies remain unsold. SO KFCC is requesting channels to buy at least 25 movies per calendar year. Apart from these, a couple of other issues were raised by members of KFCC. Prominent one was number of movies being made by the so-called star heroes. Producers in the meet requested stars to act in at least 2 or 3 films in a year. Also, Sa Ra Govindu revealed that owner of cable channels have come forward to purchase the satellite rights but they will not be able to pay the figure that is paid by satellite channels. This is stopping him to give a 'go ahead' for their offer. Let's hope that all these issues and concerns will be addressed as soon as possible by the respective folks.
