Today's Kannada movie release, Goa, may be the remake of a Tamil film by the same name, but the cast and crew say that it's comedy is bigger and better than the original. Director Suryaa, who reworked the screenplay and dialogues to suit the sensibilities of Kannada audiences, says,
"Goa is a complete family entertainer that will have you in splits. Unlike most films that focus on comedy in the first half and then take on a serious tone, this one will be a laugh riot from start to finish. I improvized on all the dialogues from the original, and believe they've come out better, because each time I'd give the cast their dialogues, they would end up laughing." The film stars Komal Kumar, Taruun, Sriki, Sharmiela Mandre, Sonu Gowda and debutant Rachel Waiz in the lead and is about three small-town guys who land in Goa, and their travails there. For Komal, the film's biggest USP is that the content itself is funny, with the actors and dialogues only enhancing the comedy.
"In the movie, I am paired with a foreigner who does not know Kannada, while I speak no English. That provides many a laugh. Sriki pretends to mouth impeccable English, when all he is actually saying is 'bunkum'. As for Taruun, his character is not just a flirt, but a brag as well. If he's touched a girl, he will say he has kissed her. This trait of his gets him into a sticky situation, which forms the crux of the story," says Komal.
