Ganesh in Dabangg remake

Ganesh is excited that he's going to try something new and different from his lover-boy image with his latest signing, Kanwarlal. This film is the official remake of the Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg and will take off in January.

"I'm very excited about the project. I have loved both Dabangg and its Telugu remake Gabbar Singh. Both are entertainers and that's the main reason I love working in films too — to give the audience a film that entertains. Though the lead character dons khakhi in the film, he isn't the typical filmi cop; he's comical and entertaining and I am looking at doing something just like that," he says.

Ganesh also points out that the film, which will be directed by MD Sridhar, will have changes in the script. "While Dabangg was entertaining, the Telugu masses loved Gabbar Singh just as much. The film had the soul of Dabangg, but was tailored to suit the Telugu market. We are planning to do the same with Kanwarlal. He will be just as entertaining as Chulbul Pandey and Gabbar Singh, but he's going to be different too," he says.

Ganesh adds that he's going to be working on his look for the film. "My next three films — Zoom, Style King and Kanwarlal — will see me in different get-ups. I'm excited as this helps me get into the character as well," says he. Quiz him about the title, which is named after Ambareesh's character in Antha, that was also supposed to have been made into a film that starred Sudeep in the lead role, and he says, "I have no idea about other films that were supposed to have got this title, but I'm happy to be doing a film that is named after such an immortal character."
