For his new film Ambareesha, director Mahesh Sukhadare has managed a casting coup when he got National Award-winning actress Priya Mani to act alongside Darshan. The director says that there was a specific reason behind casting the two. "Darshan plays someone who takes on the real-estate mafia in the film. While we have a very loveable, homely heroine cast opposite him, I needed someone who could challenge the Challenging Star onscreen, because the role needed a powerhouse performer. Priya Mani is the only one who can do that. While her talent is unmissable, the fact that she and Darshan have never been cast together ensured that this would be a treat. I'm glad it worked out and that I got them together in Ambareesha," says Mahesh.
