The Karnataka State Film Award for the year 2012 has been announced. The award given in recognition of the good work done in the field of entertainment, was decided by a committee headed by KCN Chandrashekar. The award consists of three most prestigious award viz. Dr. Rajkumar Award, Late Puttana Kanagal award, Dr. Vishnuvardhan award. All three award will carry a cash prize of 2 lakh rupees and a gold medal.

The best actor award went to Challenging star Darshan for the blockbuster hit movie, Sangolli Rayanna. The best movie award went to Bharath Stores, while the best actress award went to Nirmala for the movie Tallana.
