India's MS Dhoni says 'wait and watch' over captaincy after defeat to England

MS Dhoni was vague when asked if he might stand down as India's Test captain after a third successive series defeat against England.
Dhoni's team endured India's third heaviest defeat of all time at the Kia Oval, wiping away the achievement of winning the Lord's Test less than a month before.
When asked if he might resign after this defeat Dhoni, a master of saying nothing controversial in press conferences, offered an answer which could be interpreted two ways. "Well you will have to wait and watch," he said. "You asked me the same thing in 2011. You will have to wait and watch if I am strong enough [to continue]. You will get the news."
In reality Dhoni is the master of his own fate. The two other players in the side tipped as future captains in the past struggled badly here, with Gautam Gambhir now looking at the end of his Test career and Virat Kohli appearing uninterested and out of his depth against the moving ball.
Gambhir recently led Calcutta to the Indian Premier League crown and Kohli is the new poster boy of Indian cricket so the concern is whether this generation really needs Test cricket and the hassles associated with playing five days of cricket.
