EPFO: Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) can deposit the first installment of 8.5 percent interest before Diwali in its PF account of more than 6 crore members. EPFO is about to pay 8.15 percent interest in the first installment and 0.35 percent interest in the second installment. The Central Board of EPFO announced this in the month of September.
According to media reports, the first installment of 8.15 percent interest can be deposited in the PF account of the members till Diwali. In this way, it will be a Diwali gift from EPFO to its members. The final decision on this has not been done yet, but the first installment of interest is almost certain to be given before Diwali.
During the Corona period, EPFO settled 94.41 lakh claims. PF members were paid Rs 35445 crore through these claims. Now before Diwali, if the first installment of interest gets deposited in the account, then members will get relief.
Know balance through SMS:
If your Universal Account Number (UAN) is registered with EPFO, then you will get information about PF balance via SMS. For this, you have to send EPFOHO to 7738299899 and you will know the balance. For the information of PF balance, your UAN number, PAN number and Aadhar card should be linked. You can also know the PF balance by giving a missed call to the number 011-229014066. You can also check the balance on your passbook on EPFO website. This requires a UAN number.
