Golden Globes 2015: 'Boyhood', 'Birdman' take top honours; George Clooney awarded for lifetime achievement

The Golden Globes kickstarted the awards season in Hollywood on Monday morning IST.  The Globes have traditionally recognised films and TV series popular with the audiences. But this year it seems to have turned things around, picking several of the critics favourites. Alejandro González Iñárritu'sBirdman and Richard Linklater'sBoyhood had lead nominations in the films category while House of CardsOrange is the New Black and Jane the Virgin were favourites in the TV and miniseries category. In the film category, the big winners of the night were predictably, Birdman and BoyhoodBirdman won best screenplay as well as best actor (Michael Keaton) and best film in the comedy or musical category.Boyhood won top honours with Richard Linklater winning best director, best supporting actress and the film winning in the drama category. The Theory of Everything star Eddie Redmayne won best actor in the drama category, while Julianne Moore won best actress for Still Alice.  Amy Adams won best actress in comedy for her film Big Eyes.  Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel won best film in the comedy category, an award that many thought would go to Birdman.
