Someday, I want to be the US Ambassador to India: Nina Davuluri

Beauty and showbiz are platforms that often overlap and it's hard to find that line that separates the two. That's probably why we expect beauty queens to toe the line and step into the world of showbiz when their reign comes to an end. Whether it was becoming the first Indian Miss New York or the first Indian Miss America, the articulate ambassador of beauty hopes to someday, take on the role of US Ambassador to India. Learn more about her, and her plans for the future.

Your journey with Dance India Dance Super Moms North America will soon end with the finale. Who will you be rooting for?
That's not a fair question (laughs). Well, you are just going to have to wait and see and watch the show.

How difficult or easy was it switching roles – from being judged to being a judge?
It was very difficult to be on the other side of the table. I am always the one being judged. So, it's a lot less stressful in that sense but everyone was so talented. We had everything from Bollywood to fusion to kathak and classical. It kept everything very exciting. It has been a very fun process but a difficult process.

You are a trained dancer. Tell us more about it.
I was trained in Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi. Actually every summer growing up, myfamily would come to Vijayawada which is where my grandparents lived. And so we would always learn dance every summer. I have been trained for about 12 years. Then I was in an Indian fusion dance team in college and dance throughout college. I was also trained in Ballet, Jazz and Tap for a little while. Dance is a huge part of my identity. My exposure to these varied dance styles definitely helped. Especially technicality wise.
