SHELL INDIA AND FLEET FORUM TAKES THE ROAD SAFETY INITIATIVE STEPS




Shell India  & FLEET FORUM  Takes the Initiative to Educate School Students on Road Safety
Bengaluru. Shell India Markets Pvt Ltd, in association with the international NGO, Fleet Forum, launched Road Safety Education program for the students of 6th, 7th and 8th standards in four schools in Bangalore. On December 17th, the program was launched at Sree Rama Vidyalaya, PTA School and Vivekananda Educational Society. Traffic Sub-Inspector of the Siddapura Traffic Police Station, Mr. Shiva Kumar was the chief guest at SRV and PTA schools. He insisted that students should wear helmets and follow traffic rules. Mr. Gavi Siddappa, the Traffic Police Inspector at Micro Layout Police Station, Bangalore graced the launch at Vivekananda and spoke about being disciplined on roads. On the 18th, the program was launched at Silicon City High School.  The Guest of Honour, Mr. Reddy, Sub-Inspector, Jeevanabhimanagar Police Station, Bangalore, said that 1.38 lakh Indians die in road accidents every year. He spoke about the Motor Vehicle Act, emergency numbers and the role of BTRAC in improving traffic awareness. Speaking on the occasion, school administrators urged students to value their lives and be safe on roads. Students from all the four schools learnt a road safety song “Stop, Look and Listen” and participated in a solidarity walk to spread traffic safety awareness. They will undergo 7 weeks of road safety education program in their school premises. Mr. Vivek from Fleet Forum, Project Managers Mr. Godfrey Fernandez and Mr. George Selliah from Tuskyberry, local coordinator Mrs. Rashmi Praveen, and trainers Mrs. Bhavya Prasad, Mr. A. Raghunath and Ms. Teisovinuo Kiso were present for the launches.
