Legendary actor Dilip Kumar, who turned 92 on Thursday, was discharged from hospital where he was admitted last week for a chest infection. As the actor stepped out of the hospital, he was greeted by anxious fans who had come to enquire about his health and wish him on his birthday.
"Dilip Saab is feeling great now and does not require to be in hospital. So we have discharged him," Dr Jalil Parkar, a well-known pulmonologist, who treated the veteran actor at Lilavati hospital, told PTI. "He will only continue with his routine medication now which he has been taking due to his age," he said.
The actor was admitted to the hospital on December 6 after he complained of cold and breathlessness. He was later diagnosed with bronchopneumonia.
Uday Tara Nayar, a family friend and co-author of the actor's autobiography, told PTI, "Dilip saab is fine now. He has recovered well."
On the occasion of his birthday, several B-Town stars including melody queen Lata Mangeshkar, filmmaker Subhash Ghai and actor Anupam Kher wished the veteran actor good health and speedy recovery. Sharing a link of their duet from 1957 film 'Musafir', Mangeshkar wrote, "Today is the birthday of my elder brother Dilip Kumar. I pray to god that he is always happy and has a long life."
