In continuity of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 145th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, students of Vijaya Teachers College joined the cleanliness drive in the Jayanagar area as they were seen on roads Monday morning with brooms in their hands. Despite heavy rainfall in the morning, hundreds of students cleaned the road and removed all the garbage and unwanted debris & construction items from the roads in Jayanagar 4th Block.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by Vijaya Teachers College students was inaugurated by Hon.B.N.Vijaya Kumar, MLA – Jayanagar Constituency and Hon.N.Nagaraj- Corporator, Byrasandra Ward, Hon.C.K.Ramamurthy, – Corporator, Councillor, Pattabhirama Ward and encouragied the students to continue the drive, despite incessant rain.
Speaking on the initiative, B.N.Vijaya Kumar, said that the mission must not fade away in the coming days and local residents must develop a habit to keep their surroundings clean. Cleanliness should begin from each home and individual and that everyone should take it as their bounden duty to keep the surroundings clean. With this mission, the act of cleanliness goes beyond just one day volunteering, he added.
It is to be noted that participation just from the government is not enough, the mission can be fulfilled only when each one of us unite, support and work towards the common goal, he added further
