Two persons including a traffic policeinspector who recieved a bribe of Rs 8000 from a transporter has been arrested by sleuths of ACB here.
The arrests were made last evening in Kalyan, Superintendent of Police, ACB Thane, Datta Karale told PTI.
According to the SP, the traffic unit of Khadkpada in Kalyan had detained a trailer which was transporting a transformer.
The transporter wanted the trailer to be released for which he approached the police inspector, in-charge of the Traffic department at Khadkpada.
Inspector Arun Joshi (52) made a demand of Rs 10,000 for releasing the trailer, he said.
After negotiations it was decided that a sum of Rs 8,000 would be paid to the officer.
The transporter then lodged a complaint with the Thane Unit of the ACB which laid a trap and caught Traffic Warden Afan Pandey (22) accepting the money on behalf of the police officer.
Pandey received the agreed amount of Rs 8,000 at a place near Khadakpada last evening, the ACB official said.
Offences under sections 7,13(1)(d) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 have been registered against the duo.
