Priyanka Chopra is embroiled in controversy yet again and this time for leasing her premises to a spa in Versova, that operated a flourishing sex trade as side business.
Charisma Spa and Beauty centre was raided by the police earlier this month on 7 November, after a tip that it was being operated as a flesh trade business. Based on the information received, a decoy was sent by the Mumbai police to the Spa to verify the allegations.
In its 'About Us' section owner Manik Soni has said, "Having explored the spa industry for over 12 years, it is my pleasure to bring to you the amalgamation of luxury and holistic treatments under one roof, which is Charisma Spa & Salon in Bangalore & Mumbai".
According to this Mid-Day report, the manager, Dinesh Chandrakant, was arrested and three adult females were rescued, while the owner Manik Soni was absconding. The police have sent the rescued women to a rehabilitation centre.
A source was quoted saying in Mid-Day, "She (Priyanka) was not aware of the fact and trusted the owners. She may take a decision whether to continue with the lease or no.”
Soni is regularly seen at page 3 parties, and is also known for organising star-studded bashes that is routinely attended by TV actors, film stars, and some cricketers. He owns two more outlets, in Bandra and in Bangalore, reports the Mumbai Mirror.
The investigating officer has said, "We are searching for Soni who is still at large. Once he is arrested we would get to know the details of the agreement between him and the actor.”
