Say sorry first: Spat between IndiGo pilot, flyer delays flight by over an hour

n a rather bizarre turn of events, an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Chennai was delayed by an hour and a half on Sunday following a war of words between a Mumbai-based businessman and the pilot of the flight.

According to a video uploaded by one of the passengers on the flight, the two had got into an argument after passengers were asked to remain seated in three airport coaches parked on the tarmac of the Delhi airport for over 35 minutes.

The airline has told Firstbiz that the delay was caused because it took considerable time for the crew to help a wheelchair-bound woman disembark - she was on the same flight which had come from Ahmedabad.

One of the passengers got into an argument with the pilot for this delay following which the pilot made a cabin announcement that he would not fly the plane till the time the errant passenger apologised or was deplaned.

However, when the passenger refused to apologise or disembark, IndiGo 's security staff was called to haul the passenger off the aircraft, resulting in several other passengers coming to his rescue.

The security decided to back off and the flight, which was scheduled to take off at 8:45 pm, ultimately took off only by 10 pm

"In fact this said passenger was physically lifted and taken out of the aircraft - but a whole bunch of other passengers went out, in spite of being stopped by airline staff and got this passenger back into the aircraft, against the resistance from indigo security staff; and threatened that if plane has to take off the said passenger will have to be there or plane would not fly. The passengers were okay with the change of the Pilot. Ultimately Indigo had to eat the humble pie and the plane finally took off after 10 pm with the same Captain and nobody being offloaded," said the unnamed passenger who uploaded the video file.
