The Begum of Pataudi, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Ajay Devgn are ready to thrill the audience with the second installment of Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham’. Replacing newbie Kajal Agarwal as the love interest of supercop Bajirao Singham, Kareena calls herself the ‘Lady Singham’. The pretty actress talks about her experience, her camaraderie with 100-Cr director Rohit Shetty and her gossip loving co-star Ajay Devgn!
Newsroompost: Kareena everybody seems to be talking about your action in the film, so with Ajay as Singham now we have Lady Singham doing all the dare devil stunts…..
Kareena Kapoor:(laughs) Everybody is talking about my action in ‘Singham Returns’, you know I am taken by surprise as the only action that I have done in the film is that I have beaten up a journalist for a scene! It’s a very funny scene, I mean nothing against the journalist fraternity, it’s a comic scene where i lose my cool and in a panic i start beating up a reporter, and that’s how i am called Lady Singham! Its very interesting to see how even Singham becomes coy when confronted by lady Singham, thats her impact on Singham.
Newsroompost: And we heard you learnt to drive an auto for this film?
Kareena Kapoor: Yes i did, it was fun. And now if my acting carrier fails, i can take up a job of an autowali! I drove pretty well you see. Rohit made me really comfortable and i did get jittery and nervous but then i managed. So when you see me laughing in those sequences, you know it’s because of nervousness, infact i told rohit that i shouldn’t be seen laughing in those scenes, please edit them, but unfortunately they didn’t have raw stocks enough so they just used what they had shot with me.
Newsroompost: Earlier it was ‘Golmaal Returns’, now ‘Singham Returns’, i mean every time Rohit ‘Returns’ Bebo is with him. Is that a master plan to work with him in a sequel after the first part has done well?
Kareena Kapoor: Oh i never thought of it! But sounds like a plan. Whatever it is, i have a good working relationship with him so i never loose the opportunity to work with him. Also this role was very good, Singham may look like an out and out Ajay Devgan film but i have a very important part. I play a very talkative girl who unknowingly instigate the whole plot.
Newsroompost: Recently Ajay said you love to gossip, what you have to say about him?
Kareena Kapoor: Oh he too loves to gossip! He just pretends to not like it, but he is totally aware of all the news around.
Newsroompost: You seem to be the first choice for filmmakers when paired with Ajay Devgan….
Kareena Kapoor: I have done only one intense romance with him- ‘Omkara’, but it had such a terrific impact on audience. But then there have been films like ‘Golmaal Returns’ and we have been lucky for each other. I am very comfortable with him, and our bonding has a positive effect on the chemistry that we share. Ajay is a friend and i have known him for years. Ajay Devgan is evergreen, my sister Karisma Kapoor worked with him, i was a kid that time, now i am working with him, i am sure Samaira(Karisma’s daughter) will also be paired opposite him, and he will still play the hero.
Newsroompost: Talking about your sister Karisma, she is going through divorce, this seems to be a hard time for her…..
Kareena Kapoor: It’s a very stressful phase for her, i request you all to please take it easy on her and don’t ask about this…
Newsroompost: And how is marriage treating you?
Kareena Kapoor: Oh it’s fantastic. And i am glad to be working with all the big stars even after marriage. I am reassured that marriage hasn’t changed my carrier and fan following. Gone are the days when heroines hid their wedding or postponed them to continue working.
Newsroompost: Talking about your co-stars, Aamir is one of your favorites, did you see his ‘PK’ poster?
Kareena Kapoor: I liked it. I like everything about Aamir. If he decided to do it a certain way then he is right, the poster looks good.
