HTC India has started sending out invites for a press event on September 23 in New Delhi. Although the invite does not mention any details about what to expect on the day, we believe that HTC will unveil the new Desire 820 and One mini 2 smartphones for the Indian market.
To remind you, HTC Desire 820 was originally showcased at the IFA trade fair in Berlin earlier this month and comes with specifications like Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core 64-bit processor, 5.5-inch 720p HD display, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. The phone also comes with 13MP rear camera, 8MP front shooter, 2600 mAh battery and dual-SIM support.
The Desire 820 runs on Android 4.4 but will be getting Android L update as that will enable the phone to finally tap into the 64-bit capabilities of the processor.
On the other hand, HTC One mini 2 was introduced in May this year as a smaller sibling of HTC One M8. The phone comes with 4.5-inch 720p HD display, Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, and 13MP rear camera. The phone also packs 5MP front camera, 16GB of internal storage and microSD card slot.
The official pricing of the smartphones is a mystery at this point but it would be interesting to see if HTC finally goes aggressive with the pricing of its smartphones otherwise there is simply too much competition in the mid-range segment for HTC to see any success with its crazy high prices of the phones.
