The state cabinet on Friday agreed to increase the age limit for gazetted probationers (KAS) examination, up to 37 years for general merit (GM) candidates, 40 years for other backward castes (OBC) candidates and 42 for scheduled castes and tribes (SC/ST) students. Law and parliamentary affairs minister TB Jayachandra said the cabinet has also decided to increase the number of attempts candidates are allowed. GM candidates will get seven attempts while OBC candidates will get nine. There is no limit for SC and ST candidates.
The cabinet has also okayed a proposal to boost mathematics learning among Std IV and V students through orientation programmes at a cost of Rs 30 crore in the six districts of Hyderabad Karnataka. About 3.07 lakh students and 9,000 teachers will benefit from the programme.
Taking forward the bicycle initiative introduced by former CM B S Yeddyurappa, the state government has decided to colour-code it. While Std VIII girls will get blue ones, boys will get maroon.
The cabinet also cleared a proposal to award compensation of Rs 3.16 crore to SV Global Mill Limited for parting with 3.16 acres of land at the Binny Mill area to widen the Okalipuram junction under the new Land Acquisition Act.
