New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Thursday said that she will write her own book and 'reveal the truth', in a reaction to former external affairs minister Natwar Singh's claims. Natwar Singh, whose years of close association with the Nehru-Gandhi family ended on a bitter note after he was made to quit the Manmohan Singh Cabinet over the Volcker report, has claimed Sonia Gandhi refused the prime ministership in 2004 because her son Rahul Gandhi feared she would be killed just like his father Rajiv Gandhi.
Reacting to Natwar Singh's claims, Sonia said. "I saw my mother-in-law riddled with bullets, saw my husband assassinated. Why should I feel hurt?" "I am far from getting hurt by these allegations," she said. While turning down the post, Sonia Gandhi had said she decided to do so after listening to her "inner voice". But there was also talk that she took the decision after discussing the matter with her son and daughter. To that extent, Singh's promised 'explosive interview', turned out to be just a cracker. Yet, political Delhi eagerly awaits the book, given Singh had been an insider at 10 Janpath.
